Have you ever wondered what the difference is between the people who can handle whatever life throws at them and the people who are overwhelmed by life’s difficulties?

I did.

Growing up, I was not a confident child. This lack of confidence and not having the mindset to overcome difficulties, led me to a place of fear. To navigate this fear, I disguised myself in a way that I thought would protect me. I presented myself as someone who was overly confident and someone I hoped others would fear. This “armor” that I wore led to reckless behaviours and decisions that resulted in shattered dreams and compromising my happiness for what I thought was “safety”. I was in a tunnel of insecurity and chaos, I was gripping onto things that I thought were meant for me, or could save me, even if these things or people did not make me feel good. The problem was, I did not know who I was anymore, so I did not know what I really needed.

I have been on a 12 year journey, of learning how to navigate life better. How to live happily and authentically. I do this for me, but my biggest motivation is to teach and show my children a better way of living.

I have devoted many years of studying and practicing optimism, self-awareness and mindfulness in the pursuit of developing a mindset that is ready to take on life’s challenges without compromising who we are and what leaves us feeling good.

Through this site I hope to share my stories and learning with you. It is my hope to help you thrive and to help you in raising children to live happily and achieve their dreams without losing who they are in the process.

Understanding the power of optimism (positive outlook) and how it affects our brains, bodies, behaviours, and relationships encourages us to intentionally work on spending more time in a positive headspace.

Mindset: Understanding that we are living a human experience that is unique to us, but shared among humankind, allows for understanding that difficulties are inevitable, we are not alone. Developing a “growth-mindset”, self-compassion and hope, equips us with tools to navigate what life presents us.

Self-awareness, our nature, what makes us unique; our strengths, values and our habits allows us to bring meaning to our lives and compassion to ourselves.

Mindfulness is at the centre of all self-development. Having an awareness of our thinking, our reactions and knowing what we as individuals need in moments, is the first step in taking control of how we navigate life.
